'THE INDUMENTUM'
'The Indumentum' is the newsletter of the Vancouver Rhododendron Society. It is published monthly, except in July, August and December, and is made available as an Adobe PDF download. The current issue as well as backissues may be accessed by clicking the link below.
The newsletter is also provided by regular mail to members that prefer that format. The term 'Indumentum' refers to the soft velvety coating found on the leaves of some, primarily species, Rhododendrons.
Please note that an up to date version of Acrobat Reader is necessary to properly view the newsletter. This may be downloaded at no charge by clicking on the 'Get Acrobat Reader' logo you will find at the Indumentum download site, and then clicking on 'Get Acrobat Reader Free'. Please note also that the download of the Indumentum PDF files (usually around 2 - 2.5 MB in size) takes under 1 minute on a cable or ADSL modem, but considerably longer on a telephone modem (enough time for a nice walk in the garden).
There are several ways to view the newsletter. You can simply click on the date of the newsletter you want to see, and that should start Adobe and bring up the file. Sometimes Adobe doesn't like operating within an Explorer window, so.....
If that doesn't work, one 'trick' you can try is to right click on it, and then click on "Save target as....". That will download the Adobe file to your computer (make note of where it is saved) and then once you get out of Internet Explorer, you can find the saved file and double click it to start Adobe and display the newsletter. Printing the newsletter once you have opened it in Adobe, is as simple as clicking on the printer icon on the bar at the top of the page. Remember that printing in (glorious) colour can take a bit longer than B&W.
